Mise En Scene

Costume

Ellie and I have decided that we want our band to have quite a casual look. We are going to create this look by getting the band to dress in certain types of clothing we think would suit. I think clothing like this on the left for the boys would look good as it reflects the bands young personality and also looks casual. For the female member, I think the either a slouchy jumper/shirt with jeans or simple dark coloured dress with tights. The music video shall be released in winter so the band would look amiss if they were wearing shorts and summer dresses.

Make Up

To match the causal look, Id like Ashleigh to wear simple and natural make up. Here are some examples:

I like this eye make up because it is simple but defines the eye and makes them stand out.

I'd like Ashleigh to have a light cover of foundation and powder with a little bit of blusher and bronzer on the cheeks, this will just help to contour the cheeks but still maintain
 a natural look.

A simple gloss like this would look good and compliment the overall natural look.

Hair

I like this hair style, we could easily replicate this either with or without a full fringe.

This is another hair style I like and think we could do because it is easy yet looks good.

We don't have much control over the boys hair as they already have there own style but they will still fit our casual look. Here are some hairstyles that are similar to theirs:

Props

If we are to use props, these are a few that we could use:

A hat like this could be used because they are fashionable and would compliment the overall casual look.

There is a guitar playing throughout the video so we could possible have one of the band members playing when we film.

Representation is the process by which the media is presented to the real world. Dyer, one of the representation theorists has stated 'How we are seen determines how we are treated, how we treat others is based on how we see them'. This means that in order for our target audience to treat our band like stars, they will have to look like stars. The costumes, make up and hair all help to create this look so it is vital that we choose the correct outfits.

  2. Representation theory needed here: Dyer – ‘how we are seen determines how we are treated’ ‘a star is an image, not a real person’
    Mulvey – male gaze
Perkins – stereotypes are not simple
This will help you to reach level 4 - this is a great post, well presented with a good integration of images. You also relate it well to your own project. Well Done!
