Don't you worry child - Lyrics

Swedish House Mafia
"Don't You Worry Child"
(feat. John Martin)

There was a time
I used to look into my father's eyes.
In a happy home
I was a king, I had a golden throne.
Those days are gone,
Now the memory's on the wall.
I hear the songs
From the places where I was born.

Upon a hill across a blue lake,
That's where I had my first heartbreak.
I still remember how it all changed.

My father said,
"Don't you worry, don't you worry, child.
See heaven's got a plan for you.
Don't you worry, don't you worry now."
Yeah!

"Don't you worry, don't you worry, child.
See heaven's got a plan for you.
Don't you worry, don't you worry now."
Yeah!

There was a time
I met a girl of a different kind.
We ruled the world,
I thought I'd never lose her out of sight.
We were so young,
I think of her now and then.
I still hear the songs
Reminding me of a friend.

Upon a hill across a blue lake,
That's where I had my first heartbreak.
I still remember how it all changed.

My father said,
"Don't you worry, don't you worry, child.
See heaven's got a plan for you.
Don't you worry, don't you worry now."
Yeah!

Oh, oh, oh!
Oh, oh, oh!

See heaven's got a plan for you
[Live version repetitions:]
See heaven's got a plan for you
See heaven's got a plan for you

"Don't you worry, don't you worry, child.
See heaven's got a plan for you.
Don't you worry, don't you worry now."
Yeah!

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh! [3x]
Yeah!

Our Production Company- ideas

Myself and Ellie have been brainstorming and trying to think of a name for our Production Company. A few names we have thought of are:

SoundsRight productions
Audiorite productions
Beat Motion productions
Sound Ark productions
Ellbeck productions

Ed Sheeran - Small Bump (Acoustic)
Genre: Acoustic
Style: Performance based

This video is the acoustic version where Ed Sheeran is playing his guitar on a barge whilst floating down a canal, this is different from his official video because you see him playing his guitar whereas in the official video he is just singing in a hospital waiting room, although both are performance based.

Lyric Analysis

There is a relationship between the lyrics and visuals in this video, one of the links is "And hold me tight, and you'll be alright" with the visual of a couple stood next to the river hugging. This is an indexical sign because they are showing love, which also links back to the lyrics. The symbolic sign wants the audience to feel included and relate to the lyrics. Also just as the couple start to hug there is a short fast paced pan.

This music video supports Goodwin's theory because of the relationship between lyrics and visuals.

Ed hasn't heavily depended on the lyrics alone, his emotional tone of voice throughout out the song and performance created an atmosphere so that even if you don't understand the song you are still aware that it is a sad song.

I chose to analyse this music video because the genre is the same as what Ellie and I have chosen. Also because our music video is going to be performance based.

Update - Our Song

Ellie and I have narrowed it down to two songs, an original and a cover. We have decided to analyse both lyrics and see which song will be the best to work with. We have messaged the band and asked for the MP3 and lyrics for both so we can start to analyse.

The two songs are:

Possible Songs for our video

Ellie and I have decided that it would be best if we asked the band to perform an original song. We believe that this would be best because there are more benefits for us and the band. By performing an original song the band are able to promote themselves with our video and also it will be easier for them to perform a song they know instead of us asking them to learn a song for a cover. The band are very talented and have a good songwriter and great ideas so this is why we think it would be best. But if for some reason we are unable to record them performing an original song we also have the choice of one of their existing covers which are also good.

Here are some of the possible songs:

1. Firefly - rkfirefly

2. Supernaturalrksupernatural

3. Dancing in the rain rkdancingintherain

Analysis of our chosen artist

The band we are working with, Raw Kadence are an up and coming band based in North Lincolnshire who formed earlier this year although they have individually sang and performed before. It is made up from singer Ashleigh Scotcher, singer/songwriter Alex (Crez) Creswell, guitar/vocals Luke West and guitar/vocals Lloyd Wilkinson. They are also sometimes accompanied by Jay Tyrer, a singer. The band travel all over, performing at gigs and competitions and have been very successful. Also the band already have an identity and are locally well known so in order to promote them we will consider their existing identity when making our music video and digi-pak by keeping the colour scheme (Yellow) the same and other characteristics.

Here are a few links to their official websites and newspaper articles about the bands success:

Initial Ideas continued...

Since myself and Ellie discussed our initial ideas for the first time, a few things have changed. We heard back from Raw Kadence who have confirmed and are happy to help. They would love us to make a music video for them, either for one of their original songs or a cover. We thought that the genre for our music video would most likely be pop but from speaking to the band we have realised it would be better to stick to acoustic. We have thought up a few ideas for our video which include the setting and pace. We have decided that when we record the band it will most likely be in the music/drama hall against a dark background with some extra shots in different locations such as in a field. Our video will include different shot types, such as close ups and long shots and either short or long ASL depending on the song. It will also include shots of objects to link back to the lyrics like its telling a story.

Update - Our Potential Artist!

Myself and Ellie have not heard back from 'The Sherlocks' but have heard back from 'Raw Kadence' who were very interested and have said will be back in contact to confirm as they have a busy schedule with their own music commitments but they said that they would like to help us make our video. The band are acoustic and produce their own songs but also do covers of pop songs. They are going to send us copies of tracks and lyrics anyway so we can have a listen and see what we think of their songs.

Digital Technology Skills

At the start of A2, I had no idea how to use Final Cut Pro X but now I have gained some new skills. One of the skills I have learnt to do is add effects and transitions onto a video, this makes the video flow better and look more professional. Some of the effects and transitions we used were 'curtains' , 'cross dissolve' and 'simple blur'. Another skill is how to detach audio and replace it with a soundtrack from iTunes. To do this you click on the music note below the event browser, choose a song from the iTunes library and drag it underneath the film. Ellie and I decided to use 'It's My Birthday' by Will.I.Am and Cody Wise. We then watched the video and changed the length of the song to fit the length of the video.

History of Music Videos

This is a slideshow that I have made using the programme 'Slide share'. It is about how music has changed over the years.
